October 31, 2012: Warehouse Hallowe'en Party

Welcome to Leena's Bed and Breakfast. It's a homey-looking place with a well-loved lived-in feel. Once you come in the front door, you're faced with a hallway. To the left is a large living room, with a sunroom off of the side, and a dining room off of the back. Straight ahead is a kitchen, with a private wing behind it and a bathroom. To the right is a stairway upstairs with a ribbon tied across the banister. Go under the ribbon to your own peril.

Joshua, Helena, and Claudia are milling around.

"Oh my, that must have been a pleasure. Its wonderful to find someone that you can work with that well. I've only recently found someone like that myself,"

Though he's worried that its all going to come apart with Erik as it all feels fragile.

David smiles. "Once I got used to her. She was... quite a shock to the system, at first."
(The thought that crosses his mind: "Come along, Woolly, you can fill me in while I change." He never did get used to that one.)

"I can see that but those kinds of shocks tend to be good."

"In time, it was. We worked well together."
She was another sister to him. Which meant it hurt all the more when things went south.

"And now you can have more time together. Time is important, there never seems to be enough of it."

David snorts. "Bit of an understatement, that."
There's never enough, and then you lose some.

"I agree. How did you get connected to the Warehouse?"

[this_isaturn]

"Someone brought an Artifact into my parents' business. Josephine offered me a job that afternoon."
It's not every day a woman come charging into one's office waving a sword at any man who holds still long enough and shouting in ancient... he believes it turned out to be Vietnamese.

"Josephine was in charge of the Warehouse at that point? Artifacts seem to find people that understand them, but then like calls to like,"

Its part of his work finding those like him.

David nods. "She was the Caretaker at the time, yes."
Tiny blonde woman with a French accent, quite unassuming until you crossed her.

"Its always good to find a place where you can fit in. That's something the Warehouse does well. I envy her that ability."

"She does have quite a bit of practice."
There's still the faintest tingle of lightning in the air. Somewhere, David's sure, she's giving poor Irene yet another headache, but at least this one's got happier circumstances behind it.

"Yes, she does. I'll have to see if I could get to know her better. I'm in the process of building a community myself which is always tricky. But the Warehouse and Milliways give me hope that I can succeed."

"Reading the Warehouse's mood... takes practice. But I dare say if you could talk your way into a tour, you could learn the art of it."
He's sharp. If he were of this world, David could very easily see him working here.

"I'm certain that I could. I'm fairly good at reading moods," Its not bragging just the truth.

"And I think she'd like you, which always makes it easier."

[balancingminds]

"Thank you, I'd hope that she would. Bar likes me."

[this_isaturn]

"And that, I've gathered, is something that makes Milliways easier."
He hasn't had much acquaintance with the Bar as of yet, but he hopes he made a good impression with 'surprise me.' And with taking the disappearing blue drink he got in response in stride.

"It does, yes," From David's thoughts, he appears to have started off very well.

"What do you do, in your world?"

[balancingminds]

"I'm a geneticist. What did you do before getting involved with the Warehouse?"

[this_isaturn]

"I'm sorry?" That's... not a familiar term to David.
"My parents were in finance. My oldest brother eventually ran it into the ground."

[balancingminds]

"What year is it for you?"

That will help him know how best to explain what he does.

"It was 1914 when I... arrived."
Arrived, got shot by pirates, it amounts to the same thing.

He winces briefly at the thought along with David,

"I see then have you heard of Mendel?"
