October 31, 2012: Warehouse Hallowe'en Party

Welcome to Leena's Bed and Breakfast. It's a homey-looking place with a well-loved lived-in feel. Once you come in the front door, you're faced with a hallway. To the left is a large living room, with a sunroom off of the side, and a dining room off of the back. Straight ahead is a kitchen, with a private wing behind it and a bathroom. To the right is a stairway upstairs with a ribbon tied across the banister. Go under the ribbon to your own peril.

Joshua, Helena, and Claudia are milling around.

Joshua has been to Target. And Hobby Lobby. And Michael's.

He's spread out pretty much everything on the table in the sunroom. Someone help?

Myka shows up in the sunroom, carrying a bag of her own things.

"Hello there."

Joshua looks over his shoulder from sorting some paper plates. "Hey, Myka! You didn't have to bring anything, but thanks."

"Of course I did," Myka says. "I never let a halloween go by without adding the Bering touch."

[damncompass]

"Probably best if it's not all Donovans. I sometimes am a bit over the top." He's practically bouncing in his stocking feet.

"What'cha got?"

Myka covers her mouth and laughs at the idea of her saving them from being over the top with Halloween. Hehe.

She then looks him over and grins at his costume. "You're cute. The scarf is a great touch." She ruffles his hair. "Mark, right?"

Myka hasn't changed into her own costume yet, but will soon. Decorations first!

"Heeeeeey!" He wrinkles his nose. "Yeah. I wanted to see Rent on Broadway, but, uh, well, that ship sailed while I was stuck. I have a camera around here somewhere. I checked it before I fussed with it. It's not an Artifact. I thought it would be an easy one to do." And, he didn't even need new pants!

"You just went for that costume because you didn't have to buy new pants, didn't you?"
Claudia hasn't busted hers out yet. But she is hanging some (non-Artifacty) decorations!

"No! I thought it would be an awesome costume!" Joshua flails a bit. "Can't a guy have a costume around here?"

[claudiometer]

"Never said you couldn't. also never said I wouldn't razz you about it. Sisterly duty and all that."
This is Claudia's innocent face!

He rolls his eyes. "Bratfink." He sticks out his tongue. "Remember the hallowe'en when you were nine? You were absolutely determined to have the best costume in school for some reason."

[claudiometer]

"Well, yeah. Why do a thing halfway?"
He of all people should understand that impulse.

[damncompass]

"I don't think you're capable of that, little sister." He grins. "Can you toss me that box of Command strips?"

[claudiometer]

She does actually toss it to him. "Incoming."

[damncompass]

He reaches out to catch the box, and most of the strips fall on the ground under the chair he's standing on. "Fuck. That went brilliantly."

[claudiometer]

"You didn't mention it was open."

[thebettersort]

"I'm sorry," she says consolingly. "It can rather suck to miss something like that."

She starts helping arrange the food table.

[damncompass]

"Psh. I missed twelve years. Everything sucked." He shrugs. "I'm more mad that I missed Claudia's formative years than some pop culture things."

"I didn't realize it was. Someone must have taken some out when I wasn't looking."

"I think she has a few more formative years to go."

She gives him a sympathetic smile.

"Eh. She's more grown up than I am, frankly." He shrugs, and takes a few fake cobwebs out of a bag. "It's just odd, disappearing, and then coming back and seeing how much the world's moved on."

[claudiometer]

"We can yell at Pete later."
She didn't say it was Pete's fault. She said she was blaming him.

Joshua laughs, getting off of the chair and picking up the tabs. "Probably is his fault, really."

"Suddenly facebook, hmm?"

The curse upon the world.

[damncompass]

"Suddenly Facebook, suddenly Twitter, suddenly YouTube, suddenly everything." He makes a face. "Sometimes I still don't feel like I'm caught up."
