October 31, 2012: Warehouse Hallowe'en Party

Welcome to Leena's Bed and Breakfast. It's a homey-looking place with a well-loved lived-in feel. Once you come in the front door, you're faced with a hallway. To the left is a large living room, with a sunroom off of the side, and a dining room off of the back. Straight ahead is a kitchen, with a private wing behind it and a bathroom. To the right is a stairway upstairs with a ribbon tied across the banister. Go under the ribbon to your own peril.

Joshua, Helena, and Claudia are milling around.

"Thank you, Helena. You look elegant and we seem to match,"

He bows to her, trying for the deeper bow that suits his costume.

Helena giggles and makes a perfect curtsey. "That we do, Doctor." She beams at him. "You look as if you were meant to wear that." Reaching over, she straightens his cravat.

"I don't feel as if I am, but I'm glad that it seems that way. How is your Halloween? Did you choose your dress or did Bar pick it out for you?"

It would suit her original time.

[timelessinventor]

"I chose it, darling." She grins. "It is actually from my original time. I found it in a trunk a few weeks ago."

[balancingminds]

"Its lovely. How are you doing, Helena? It seems an age since we last talked."

[timelessinventor]

"Up and down, to be completely honest, Charles." A huge smile crosses her face, however. "One of my dearest friends showed up in Milliways, however. It is ever so good to have him back."

Her thoughts, however, have a bit of a different pictures. A flash of an eight- year-old girl, a moment of Wooley disappearing in a flash of light, and Helena's intense pain surrounding it.

"I know that feeling rather well," He frowns at her thoughts and steps forward to offer her his hand.

"If I can ever help, you need only ask."

[timelessinventor]

She takes his hand, squeezing it tightly. "Thank you, Charles. It is good to have people who so very much want to help."

"I do. I know how much pain is in the world and if I can do anything to alleviate it for anyone then I will."

[timelessinventor]

"You are a much better man than I, Charles." Helena smiles gently. "How have you been?"

[balancingminds]

He shrugs, he doesn't know much better he is,

"Full of ups and downs the same as you said. I did something that I've wanted to but that broke another's heart and spent a week as a ten year old."

[timelessinventor]

"Oh, dear." Helena winces. "Hopefully it will work itself out in the end?" She pauses. "Ah. Was that the same Milliways strangeness that hit Joshua?"

[balancingminds]

"I hope it will, but relationships are never simple. Yes, it was. We got along rather well at that age."

[timelessinventor]

"Relationships are rather the opposite of simple. There is a reason that I tended to avoid them in my original time. They simply complicated matters."

Joshua changed everything, however.

"He told me about that. I dare say you both were quite adorable."

[balancingminds]

"I think we were, but then I'm rather biased. No, they're not but that's why they're so precious. I would rather have complicated relationships than no connections."

[timelessinventor]

"I have learned that in the last few months." She smiles wistfully. "There are people in my life that have taught me how important deep relationships of every sort are."

Joshua, Myka, Claudia, even Artie to some extent.

[balancingminds]

"I'm glad, they're precious. And while what happened has probably lost me one relationship, now I can explore another with someone who pulls and pushes me unlike any other."

[timelessinventor]

"Sometimes, one has to lose something to gain even better things." She pauses, a fleeting memory of her daughter crossing her mind. "I am beginning to learn that."

"I hope that's true and I hate the idea of zero sum equations brought into the world."
