damncompass: holding the compass (damn compass)

OOM: Late April 2012

Joshua leads Claudia into his (admittedly messy) apartment, kicking some dirty shirts out of the way. "Um, don't mind the mess. Sorry. I didn't know I was going to have company."

There's something about the room that is so typically Joshua.

The Temple to Take-Out, perhaps? "You really need to throw out your trash, dude."
She pokes because she cares!
"Ah, bookshelf, my old Skype friend."
claudiometer: looking up (iiinteresting)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"You should probably be glad you never saw my old apartment." That was interesting! Sort of!
Claudia picks up the stuffed beer molecule from his bed. "So what is it? Because I doubt it's the stuffed beer that followed you home."
claudiometer: dubious face (:/)

"I may have kinda sorta plastered the walls in my Artie-hunting notes." Just a little bit.
"Nice try, dude. If the point is that we're not talking, then you get to tell me what's up."
claudiometer: pulling on neutralizer gloves (we retrieve dangerous objects)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Not really, I knew who I was looking for. What, are you branching out into biology or..."
She trails off as she spots the telltale purple showing from behind an empty container, and fishes a pair of gloves out of her tool belt. (Hey, quite aside from what he's said he wants to research, this stuff is nasty.) What she unearths from the static bag/glove pile is a fairly ugly... is it a ram or a jackal?
"You could've told me you'd already started the research. I would've made you a containment thingy."
claudiometer: peering around a wall (move silently check)

"Aaaand how bad's the crash when it's not compounded by mainlining Turkish coffee?"
Questions! Questions that need answering!
claudiometer: looking at a list (on my to-do list)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm just sayin', it's kinda weird that it hasn't hit you that hard. Especially since it doesn't seem to be something you have to do anything special to set off." It doesn't sound like the same kind of thing as the telegraph.
"You do realise this is why I said you should talk to Mrs. F. Or I could try bringing it up."
claudiometer: side-facing surprisedface (well that's not good)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, one would think, but..."
Now, she doesn't know for sure if this sinking feeling is on to something; that answer's better provided by other people. But what she does know is that most of the things they've rounded up didn't cause trouble until the owner was dead or had given it to someone else (she doesn't buy Man Ray not knowing what that camera did).
"Joshua Alan Donovan, did you make an Artifact?" (She's only full-naming him on principle, this time.)

"I'll be over here facepalming into infinity. Only you, brother dear."
Well... at least if he's researching something without the aid of goo it's something he made?
claudiometer: eyeroll, text: bitch please (bitch please)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know what I meant." At least they're back into friendly territory.
"Seriously, though, I doubt that many people have actually studied the damn things. And even then, what're the odds they made the study subject themselves?"
claudiometer: with Pete and Artie (we got a ping!)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"True." Claudia shrugs. "Still say you should talk to someone about this. Get a safer research environment than your bedroom, for one thing."
claudiometer: onna laptop (research-fu: new school)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"At least you have it done. And I will read the whole thing when I go home, I promise."
Now that she's calmed down and all. She might even be able to offer some useful points!
claudiometer: looking up (iiinteresting)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Apply to some other stuff, then. You've established yourself enough in the world that you don't need Artie to pull strings for you this time." Or any lingering connections to MacPherson.
(She doesn't bring up the Artifact-research angle again, mostly because she's already covered it bout twelve times.)
claudiometer: holding jars of stuff (weighing options)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"26? 38? How the hell would I know?"
This is Claudia's confused face.
claudiometer: looking up from a case file (o rly?)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Split the difference, maybe?"
At least he's around to have an existential crisis.
claudiometer: arms crossed, wearing sunglasses (future's so bright I gotta wear shades)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Most days, Claudia would just brush that aside and change the subject. But today is not most days, and if they're ever going to stop talking at each other and start talking to each other, they have to start somewhere.
"Hey. Why's it bugging you so much?"
claudiometer: sprawled onna couch, text: WILD HEARTED. (wild hearted)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Such as?"
Not that she's asked, but if ever there were a time... yeah.
claudiometer: dubious face (:/)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Claudia winces at the first part, but she doesn't say anything. It does kind of make sense.
"How do you figure that?"
claudiometer: kid!Claud with Joshua ([kid] family photo)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"...Dude, no."
It's attach time now, right? OF COURSE RIGHT.
claudiometer: hugging Pete (chosen family)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"How the hell did I manage that?"
She's not expecting him to know, but the question does bear asking.
claudiometer: grinning, or possibly sobbing (laugh or cry?)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Either way, at least I did pull you through."
She doesn't want to think about what would have happened if she'd tried and found nothing for her trouble.
claudiometer: current!Claud with Joshua (modern family)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-04-23 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I love you too, you know." And if pressed, she would find him again, no matter what it took.
